Blast from the Past

Seems like ages since I put something up here.  Work is insane. Life is insaner. Not a lot of writing time on my hands which is just no good at all.  In an effort to make an effort I cleaned my office and did some re-arranging.  Took a lot of junk to the re-cycle center and as always with cleaning projects around here I manage to find hidden treasures and long lost friends.  Like this Sony Discman that I abandoned like used Kleenex the second I got an iPod.  Now I view it as a sort of quaint device from the distant past like an 8 Track tape or bag phone.  The lid wouldn't work so I jimmied it open with one of Zoe's nail files.  Lo and behold was a long lost copy of Radiohead's Amnesiac.  I listened to that CD constantly for about six months.  I originally heard the music at an art opening at the Chicago Institute of Art's summer school in Douglas Michigan.  Two artists collaborated on a video installation.  They had this really interesting (then) music playing in the background.  I was shocked to find out it was Radiohead - it was so different at the time.  I hadn't heard its predecessor, Kid A, before this either.  I had a fun few months wallowing around in the pops, clicks and atmospheric wailings of that music.

Supposed to snow next week, which made me love this installation at a gallery show I went to last week even more - it screams "Winter's Coming".

Yeah - it was a show stopper. Those crows are 6 feet long - really glad they aren't that big in real life.
