Lake Effect Night

The Big Lake generated a foot or so of snow over the weekend.  Snow fell gracefully and consistently for two days.  Sometimes there was snow falling out of a clear sky which though seemingly magical, was only the continued result of Lake Effect - the bane of the lake shore winter.  Lake Michigan causes its own sort of weather system that is, in essence, an enormous snow-making machine provided the conditions are right.  And in the winter, the conditions are nearly always right.  So we experience days and days of light, puffy flakes drifting lazily out of a sky sometimes devoid of clouds.  The up side is that it really is beautiful.  Particularly today with the sun shining.  However, I am a night owl, so I prefer the beauty of the night....
