Lifetime Piling Up ....Again.

Dropping in from orbit.... After all the dress drama the Senior prom turned out alright.  Just like I said. "Everything'll work out."  About twenty thousand times.  After that then it was gnashing of teeth and eating of liver over the Senior Project.  A final high school final.  One last dig to get these kids ready.  Again, "Everything'll work out, you watch.  Just keep plugging away. You got this.  I know  you do."  The Day comes and the Kid pulls it off - a twenty minute presentation speaking in Japanese about the connections between the traditional Japanese tea ceremony and coffee culture in America.  She read from notes written in Kanji and  Kirigama characters while a powerpoint scrolled along. I hadn't seen or heard any of this.  Stunned is an understatement.  Incredible that she came from not being able to tell time until 2nd grade to this.  Just amazing.  They score AP credit for this shindig.  Z collected all the points available.  And then it was the boyfriend, Ryer's turn.  The kid organized and pulled off his own art show at the local arts council filling two large galleries with his output for the year.  Did I mention the Chicago Art Institute awarded him a full ride scholarship?  Yeah - it was like that.  On top of this he got obsessed with the tiny house movement http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2011/07/25/110725fa_fact_wilkinson and designed a tiny house of his own to unveil at his show.  He plans to live in it over the summer as part of his ongoing interest in tiny houses.  He has a summer job at a boy scout camp where they'll take the house and plant it on the property somewhere and that will be his bunk for the duration.

And now there is one week before they all graduate high school and scatter out to college.  There are so many stories to tell and emotions to share but there's simply no energy to spare right now.  My kid's gonna get a diploma and the next day she'll be flying out of O'Hare for Paris to spend four weeks touring Europe with a ballet company. The bird is literally gonna fly out the nest and into the world.  And I'm sure it'll all work out.....
