Mail Order Prom

Zoe finally received her prom dress in the mail and everything was hunky dory until she tried it on and it didn't even come close to fitting. Major melt down, which was kind of funny because Ryer (the boyfriend) was there and the helpless look on his face was priceless. I had enough sense not to laugh though, as I assured Zoe that everything would work out. It turned out to be a great teachable moment in the importance of having a plan B, C and if possible, D. She knew this concept of course, but had decided to take a risk and put all her eggs in this one dress basket. Not a smart thing when you're dealing with a vintage clothing outlet from Burbank California whose customer service rep had the most incomprehensible Chinese accent I've never understood. Anyway, through the magic of the US post office and a very liberal return policy, we had a new dress delivered in less than a week. This one fit but needed some taking in here and there. It's at the tailor's right now. Two days ago one of Zoe's friends got dumped by her boyfriend and had her prom dress declared irreparably destroyed by the post office; all on the same day. Talk about a bad day in high school. Told Zoe to count her blessings and keep turning that Karma wheel.

Very few things in life equal the drama of high school.

That is one gorgeous dress. Is it the one she's wearing or the one she mailed back?

She's wearing the same style dress - just a size bigger. Sizing's iffy with the vintage stuff. She's a good shopper though - this gorgeous dress was $125. A steal if you know your prom dresses.

I've been so busy with work and Zoe's life I haven't had time for contemplation. It'll hit me in July when things calm down a bit before the deluge of starting college. It's been a wild couple of years though.
